Chip Chocolate Cookie In A Mug

A cookie a day keeps doctors, therapists and nightmares away. It’s a tested theory, pure science. Now, one can’t doubt the workings of the proved theories, can we? But you can’t always eat traditional cookies or make dough and bake for our own selfish pleasure. This recipe will make you rethink the cookies the American grandmother’s make.

It’s warm, it’s chocolatey and it’s quick.

I made it under two minutes and I am not lying as Maggi does.

When I first told my mom I wanted to make a cookie in a mug, she gave me the funniest look ever. Like when I tell her I’ll be rich from my blog and live out my dream. Exactly that kind of look. One of pure delusion that you give to a two year old.

But when she tasted it, her belief in my cookie was absolute.

The texture is exactly how you’d expect a cookie to taste like. Soft, melt-in-your-mouth chocolatey with the subtle but enchanting sensation of vanilla in the background. I paired it with vanilla ice cream that not only contrasted the hot fresh out of oven cookie but also was like dunking it in milk.

And who is to say adding actual milk won’t help? #ExperimentAndTell

It’s the perfect midnight snack. I swear. You go in and out of the kitchen in the least possible time and so tasty for your binge watching cravings. You don’t want to waste a single second especially when you are binge watching, now, do you?

(I’m not sure why I am watching Big Bang theory again. But may I interest you in a hot cookie?)

Ingredients:

  • Butter- 2 tablespoon
  • Powdered Sugar- 1 tablespoon
  • Brown Sugar- 1 tablespoon (Variation given)
  • Salt- Pinch
  • Vanilla Essence- 1/2 Teaspoon
  • Baking Powder- 1/4 teaspoon
  • Flour- 2 and 1/2 tablespoon
  • Chip Chocolate- 2 tablespoon

How To:

Take your microwavable mug. Melt your butter in it if not melted.

Add your sugar.

If you don’t have brown sugar- Well I lucked out- then just use normal sugar instead of it.

The final batter might turn out a little light in colour which is fine really. Just add two tablespoons of powdered sugar instead of one.

Add Vanilla Essence. #promotingvanillalove

Then your baking powder and salt. Make sure you very less salt. We just want to give it slight saltiness to enhance the chocolate flavour.

Skip salt if you are using salted butter.

Mix your wet ingredients before adding the flour.

Now mix and mix till you have a smooth ball of cookie dough. It’s an object of beauty, really.

Add your chocolate chips and twist and turn it more.

Now firmly set the dough on the base. It won’t rise as a cake does, so you don’t have to use a deep mug for it.

Cook for 90 seconds. ( Yes, I got a new microwave oven. And yes, I love it.)

And tada! The cookie is ready. You might doubt it until you take your first bite. And then you will bow down to the genius of it. I swear.

I served it with a dollop of vanilla ice cream and the dish reached just another level of holiness.
